Mission of the Month

Lina’s Project

Lina’s Project, named after my late daughter who passed away several years ago, sponsors summer activities for children living in poverty here in Brussels.

The project began in 2017, sponsored by Lina’s former employer, AFME . The plan was put into action by Nativitas, a local non-profit organization well known to IPC.  Since then, we have continued to function every summer, but solely thanks to donations.

Most of the families that come to Nativitas for help, live in the Marolles which is a very poor area of Brussels. A social worker selects the children from the families with the lowest incomes to participate. Our project is multi-cultural, reaching out to children of many different origins, but also includes Belgian children. Children with special needs are also included. The eligible families receive information about local summer activities organized in the area during the day, but also possibilities for over-night camps in the Ardennes, up at the Belgian coast or even outside of Belgium (France, Spain etc).

These activities are organized by local non-profit organizations, as well as the commune, the “mutuelle”, and scouts. We encourage the children to choose challenging activities that spark their interest and creativity. In 2025, we were able to sponsor activities for 57 children, including one autistic child.

Without financial help, these children would simply be spending the summer at home, often in a very small living space, glued to the TV or playing video games on someone’s phone. Thanks to Lina’s project, these children can discover new horizons. It opens up their world, builds self-esteem and creates great memories. What a wonderful way to spread God’s light!

If you would like to help make this year’s activities a great success, please consider donating. You may make a bank transfer to IPC’s Mission account: BE81 0019 8876 4324 or use a mission envelope during our service.

If you wish to obtain a tax credit for Belgian taxes, you may donate directly to
